"Game Controllers" in Control Panel instead of "Joystick"

by Steeler[nospam » Mon, 05 Jan 1998 04:00:00

I have Win95 OSR2 and used to have the new "Game Controllers" in the
Control Panel instead of the old "Joystick" item.  I recently cleaned
off my hard drive and started from scratch and reinstalled everything
just to clean it up a bit, and noticed that this time I have the older
"Joystick" control panel item.  What happened?  Is there a piece of
software that changes it to the more advanced "Game Controllers"?  I am
wondering if my Gravis GRiP software messed it up.

Never mind, I just re-installed DirectX 5.

I think you need to re-install Directx5.

Directx 5.0 installs the new game controller applet.  Try reinstalling DX5.

Just re-install directx 5 and it will replace the old joystick icon in
your control panel, with the new game controller icon.
