I have a problem. I can not use my joystick. For some reason windows thinks
it is disconnected. I even unplugged the logitec usb wheel. What can i do?
It worked before and now it shows up for one second as ok then quickly goes
to not connected. I can see it change each time i open the game controllers
in win 98

One thing you might try is to remove and reinstall the gameport under device
manager.  That usually fixes this problem for me.  LOL.

I use my LWFF with my old TMF1 pedals, so I also use a 'joystick' parallel
to the LWFF. You must make sure, that in the control panel your joystick
gets listed *before* your LWFF (i.e. joystick=ID1, LWFF=ID2). Simply remove
both, your joystick and the LWFF in the control panel, then reinstall them
again.
*First* the joystick, *then* the LWFF. For some strange reason, the LWFF
profiler always sets the LWFF to ID1 back again, so you'll have to do this
procedure everytime you change any LWFF settings in the profiler.(So use the
control panel instead, whenever possible)
Hope, that helps!

I had the same thing happen, this is basic I know, but check your
connections.  Mine was loose.

When troubleshooting, always go simple to complex.  I
