having goten a 3DFX recently I want one eye candy/extreme sense of speed
arcade game for the times I don't feel like a sim.

Moto Racer seems like the best candidate
what do others in this NG think?

Have you tried Need for Speed 2SE.  Its 3Dfx enhanced and looks
amazing.  Pure arcade fun, with a great sense of speed.  You can pick
up the 3Dfx demo of one of the tracks.

MotoRacer is also fun also, but others have stated that it looses its
thrill quickly.

Moto Racer gives an incredible sense of speed but it does loose it's
thrill quickly, although if you can network or modem multiplay with
a friend you will be playing it this time next year saying WOW!! this
is great.

I have MotoRacer & NFS2/SE ... Both are awesome in the graphics
department.  If you get MotoRacer, be sure to get the "Polygon patch"
and also be sure to turn FILTERED on in the settings -- it makes a HUGE
difference.

NFS2/SE seems to have more replayability ...

If you want an arcade game that gives quite good eye candy without being too
much of a sim, try Extreme ***.

I am running Motoracer with a Screamin3D using filter on mode.  This
game looks great and is a blast!  I never thought I'd find myself
playing an arcade style game and liking it (I"m a huge racing SIM fan).

My question is, what is the polygon patch, what will it do for me and
where can I get it?
