Well WTF? It seems to make sense to me that everyone playing
the damn game should have bought their own copy. If you were
trying 2 player on one machine and it required 2 CD you would
have something to *** about.

This whining make you look like a stupid shit...

Oh one last thing. DUH!!!!

Ubisoft have just responded to my email telling me that MGPRS2 is
primarily a single player game and there is no fix for all LAN players
needing a separate CD.Talk about encouraging piracy.

I don't think it's stupid whining at all.
Electronic Arts games require a CD for single player, but for network
games only the server needs the CD. Thats a fair solution.

If I buy the game, I have the right to run it on both of my computers.

In the case of MGPRS2, I'd either find a CD crack or burn myself a
second copy.

I would agree here unless there is someone other than you
running it on the second computer. Hey how about if I burn
a copy of SCGT and give it to my racin buddy and anyone
else I claim I want to do multiplayer with? Is that OK? It
sound to me like I would be illeagly pirating software.

Cool. And the other person will use it strictly for multiplay and
not as single play right?

Exactly. I'm talking about company coming over and playing on my home
LAN. They aren't leaving with my original, or a duplicate of the CD.
I don't condone cheating companies out of their deserved revenues.
This is just a case of Electronic Arts making it easy, and Ubi making
it difficult, IMO.

Already tried burning a copy of MGPRS2 CD. Wouldn't work. There are .mrc
files in the datab\menus directory that somehow trick your
PC into thinking that they are larger than the CD ( 650 mb ) . Couldn't
find a way around it. Wanted a second copy for my work PC. I'll have
to just buy another copy of the Sim.

Well most CD burners come with software which will do a CD disk
to disk copy. This is basically an Disk-image copy were compressed
files like that shouldn't matter.

I will ignore your gratuitous insults because I don't want to lower myself
to your level.
A number of other games I run over our LAN at home use either of two
methods

1)A seperate installation format for the guest computer that will only
allow a network game, or
2)If you run the game without the CD you are only presented with the
network game option (and I,m sure there are others).

No need to burn illegal copies , no need to to run the CD between computers
and no need to call anyone a stupid shit.

Keep smiling. Handy /;-))
