Need help with LAN in GPL1.1

by Hans » Mon, 06 Sep 1999 04:00:00

Hi,
Me and a friend are having big problems in getting multiplayer over LAN to
work with GPL 1.1. We have tried all kind of core.ini's but we get
disconnected all the time after playing for some minutes.
The funny thing is that we installed GPL 1.0 again and everything works
perfectly well there, but I can't use FF with the LWFF there so it's a
little bit boring in that way.
Anyone who have an idea what could be the problem?

Regards,
Hans

go to core.ini on gpl root and change the "forcefeedback  =  0"  to  "1".
Also make sure toy guys have the same clock settings in core.ini

Ok, that's an obvious thing to do to get the FF and the FF works, but
LAN does NOT work with the same settings in both core.ini's on both
machines. It just doesn't work for long in GPL1.1 without a disconnect.
As I said we tried it with GPL1.0 and it works flawlessly there but not in
GPL1.1 even without core.ini.

Wrong, we race in lan every other day and there hasnt ever been one single
problem on v1.1

Then it must be a problem with the core.ini's we use. I can't understand
that as I think we have tried the sample ones unaltered.
Is there a possiblility for that you can send me a copy of the core.ini's
you use to try out. Btw. does any of you use FF when playing?
Can't understand why the GPL1.0 LAN we have work perfect but disconnects
appear all the time on the GPL1.1. It also crack's up the client side all
the time too. weird stuff :-)

Is this lan IPX or TCP/IP? If it is IPX, try switching to TCP/IP.

It is LAN IPX. Thanx we shall try TCP/IP, but maybe we have to try a clean
install on both macines too as we both have patched GPL with various dashes
and sounds...just to make sure :-)
We use a HUB with TP cables and which is supposed to give Two way
communication which I was told so the speed of the LAN should be ok.
