Can someone explain why there are so many version of the nvidia drivers.

Nvidia web site is ver 6.5 but this web site has all sorts of versions?

still coming to grips with d3d after years of glide

If you want to try some of the other drivers, it tells you at
www.geforcefaq.com what the differences between them are.

Personally I just stick with the official nVidia drivers (currently 6.50).
If you are going to install new drivers, then get NVMax (from www.nvmax.com)
because it can un-install your old drivers properly with one mouse click.

What, you confused by them having 5.x, 7.x, 10.x. 11.x and 12.x all at the
same time ?

I have opted out of the driver game after playing it for a while.  I
have a Hercules GTS Pro card, DX8.0a, and have decided to stick with
their 7.52 drivers and forget about the rest!  I have better things to
do than mess around with tweaking my T-Bird 1.33 DDR system day and
night!

I believe drivers over 7.* are "optimized" for DX8 any way.  If I am
wrong in that assumption - I don't care!!! <g>
