SCGT what to fix?

Here's a list of the top 5 problems in SCGT. If you would like to comment on
them please do, also add any other problems you feel should be addressed.
These will reach Image Space Inc.

-Art

1) Controller issues, duel axis etc.

2) AI speeds too slow on hardest settings (slow in corners)

3) Grass too sticky

4) Physics work (locking up tires, cornering)

5) Multiplayer lag

Art,

In addition, Steve Blank made some good comments about 10 messages
above yours in my list   Among them:

graphic popup of trees (this on a 450 celeron with sli voodoo2s) that
is annoying and I thought would go away with N2.

Sounds are not balanced for in the***pit driving. engine and tire
squeal are too soft and outside wind and other car noises are too
loud.

Fixiing all these items would quiet the crowd a bit I think.

Some good ones.  Number one is a MUST, followed by (4).  And a lot of others
have appeared.  Added:

Tire temperatures.  And the usual 3 per tire please.  (how to adjust camber
setting without this?)

Access replay mode without quitting the race.

Access pit via an "escape" command without resetting (I don't think it does
this presently).  Right now, you have to drive back to pit.

More impressive sounds.  They all sound fairly wimpy to me.

you feel should be addressed.<

I'd  add this, as it's an easy fix:

Each make of car should have a distinct engine sound.  A few do already, but a
Panoz doesn't sound AT ALL like a Porsche.  The game will already accomodate
this, so why not do it?  It'll save us the trouble!:-)

6)***pit view needs some kind of display of what gear you are in
(for manual shifting)

Seeyas on the track.

When I set some garage settings, like fuel and wing, I expect them to
be that way when I start driving. Now I got a full tank and max wing
setting when I leave the pits.

Max RPM should differ per car.

Braking should be more dramatic. Now you can slow down by a slight
lift of the throttle. Accelaration should be more dramatic too.

It is a bit strange to see one mirror in the center when the outside
view clearly shows a mirror on each side.

The UI should be more consistent. Not a green button right under at
one case and then a go button in the center of the screen. The
"taskbar" popup is not really needed, and should be visible all the
time.

There should be more information in a race. The only information you
got in a race now is your laptime(s), and your relative position on
the track to your competitors. (F5 view). For fun I let the AI race a
72 hour race, and after 12 hours I had no clue who was lapped or not.
I must add that I was impressed about the stability of SCGT. No slow
down or crash yet.

The pylon physics suck! :-) They hoover too long when hit.

In the garage I was unable to adjust the ride height settings up or down.

SCGT what to fix?

1/ More options in replay like clipping and being able to see
laptimes. Also, being able to view from***pit.

2/ Blowable engines. Perhaps they have rev limiters but this doesn't
stop you over revving when downshifting.

3/ Find someone with intestinal fortitude to point out to the bozos
who don't want to see "their" cars being smashed or partially damaged
that they are portraying themselves (obviously appropriately) as stupid
little children! They get smashed up IRL and even get drivers injured
(and on live TV), so this is simply ludicrous in the extreme!

Still more items for the list:(in no particular order)

1.  Cockpit visible in replays(and as default, no F4 every time)

2.  More effect from the gamma slider.

3.  The ability to cycle BOTH ways through the cars in replays.  As is, it'll
be a PAIN with a big field.

4.  The pedal sensitivity is off.  In neutral, depressing the pedal about 5% of
the way will redline the engine.  (not a calibration problem)

5.  BUG!  With the textures on max, (450celery/voodoo2) the E-Mapping makes the
car surfaces have a strobe-like effect, with mulitcolored polygons popping off
like crazy.  Run the textures down to high and it's fine; you get the desired
effect without the light show.  Otherwise no graphical problems with max
textures.

6.  Visible headlight effects from the in-car, and brighter headlight
appearance in the mirror.

7.  Less tank-like AI.  Not speed this time, but I just had a session using
them instead of brakes, just to experiment.  Mangled my car easily, but
couldn't punt 'em off and didn't damage them.  Hit from the side, they'll go
off, but not from behind.  If it's enough to take ME out, they should suffer
likewise.

8.  The sound is screwy with muliple cars in view.  Distorted and hard to
listen to.  I changed the sound files and it still does it.  The balance of
in-car to traffic sounds is off, too.

With some tweaking, this could be a good one!

Thx for all the posts. All these fixes should keep ISI busy for a while and
improve SCGT. Get back to you all when more news is available on the
patch(es).

Thanks to you and ISI for soliciting the input; do tell 'em not to be shy about
patch policy.

Fingers crossed, :-)
