Preferably, patch the demo.  The control options
are inoperable at the moment.  Has *anyone* gotten
dual axis pedals to work?

Nope, and I guess my setup won't work at all, since I don't have Joy1
second axis. (Modified T2, with CH Pro Pedals). Why can't Microsoft
release an internal unsupported joystick-driver/controlpanel that let
the enduser decide what stuff he has*** on the Joystickport. Oh, I
forgot. Then it isn't for dummies any longer...

(The only game that works for my setup right now is GPL using Generic
driver.)

Agreed!

Also, I have yet to hear from *those who know* whether or not the gold
version will accept dual axis pedal configuration. The question has been
asked many times and given the lack of a response my take is.....it doesn't.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

How do I get my Thrustmaster Formula T2 to work with SCGT, or can I?

Not me.

And another thing.  I'm using CH Pedals.  These have their pots wired
opposite those of typical racing controller pedals like Thrustmaster's,
and when you set the switch to put them on a single axis, they go onto
Axis 4, not Axis 3 or 2.  This leads to two problems with SCGT because
SCGT can't see anything on Axis 4, and it can't deal with reversed
operation of the pots.

Luckily I had an old Thrustmaster adapter lying around; this moved Axis
4 to Axis 3 - but SCGT *still* wouldn't work with the CH pedals because
it gets confused when you try to tell it to use down (right pedal on the
CH Pedals) for throttle and up (left pedal on the CH Pedals) for brake.

Luckily I had a set of CH pedals into which I'd wired switches so that
the pots could be reversed, so they worked in the same direction as the
pots in TM controllers.

Note that it took quite a bit of fiddling and tinkering to figure all
this out, because the SCGT controller configuration routine was failing
in some pretty nonstandard ways, and giving no warning - and you have to
load the track and exit the pits before you can find out whether
whatever you just tried will actually work.

So now the drill to run SCGT goes like this:

1. Crawl behind the computer and plug in the TM adapter.

2. Throw three switches on the CH Pedals - change Car/Plane to Plane,
and switch my two custom DPDT switches down to reverse operation.

3. Open Windows/Game Controllers, delete four-axis controller and
install 3-axis controller, and recalibrate.

4. Play game.

To switch back to GPL or any other racing sim I run regularly, I have
have to reverse the entire process.

Obviously, SCGT, whatever its virtues, isn't going to get much play on
my machine as long as this is the drill every time I want to run it.

Let's hope they un-gold the gold version and fix the controller routine!

I just switched  controllers around such that it let me program the controller
at all, set my CH Pro Pedals to car mode (the swing motion of the plane mode
is unacceptable for racing), set the throttle to that, and use button 3 on my
stick for braking.  Oh well.

I use a T2 with no problems. hold the mouse at the bottom of the
screen, and you can go to options, and set your controller.

My joy in life these days is USB controllers. The wave of the future.
(I just wish my favorite flight controller company would get some out.)
The pure convenience of being able to choose among several
controllers all plugged in at the same time is...  <snip nervana story> ;)

I'm thinking of taking my analog flight gear to the office and plugging
in my USB sticks afterwards and see if I can access all of them
and still do my work. ;)   The big problem I have with this setup
is that I tend to sneak in use of more than the 4 traditional analog axes.
;)

The only flys in the ointment are with (presumably) older programs
that may assume axis polarities, or only look at the first stick, etc.
