Cool stuff Todd.  Let me know if you need a betatester for the OS X
version (this is not one of those products which only runs for people
who buy Micro$oft, right? RIGHT?!?  ;)

Same here Todd. I race these things on a regular basis and would be more
than happy to give you my input, even if I do only use M$ products. :-)
Here's a link to our clubs website. http://www.jacksonrcracing.com/

We built all of our tracks from scratch within the past two years. Right now
we run 1/10 electric and nitro touring cars, and 1/10 electric buggies and
trucks and nitro trucks as well. Your game will be a great way to keep
racing on those days when we get rained out. Not that that ever happens. LOL

Sorry, there's no OS X version.  It took several years to write the Windows
version and we don't see writing the whole thing a second time to grab the
other 10% of the market anytime soon :-(

Hehe, I wonder what the % really is..  The sad thing is one of my best, long
time friends has a very nice Mac laptop and won't be able to run it either.
Seriously though, we'd have to rewrite basically the whole thing from scratch
to support another OS.  I see now why devs frequently write for Windows only,
even if they don't really like the OS.

Thats why OpenGL is usually preferred by developers writing for
potential cross platform products.

Personally, I like writing with OpenGL, but the whole Windows programming
structure is a bit different from other OS's so it's not quite so simple as
just picking a graphics API to use, I think.

afford one...

Eldred, for a few hundred bucks you can get yourself an entry level
ready-to-run vehicle that'll be a shit load of fun to drive. When ya have
some time check these guys out. They have a ton of info there.

Any chance of having 1/10 electric cars as well as the nitro.  It's
what I race and would make a really useful practice tool.

About 4 to 5 per cent of the personal computer share is Mac, I gather.

However, that's still about 22 million people though.

Also, note that "Mac" with OS X is BSD Unix these days.

A lot of code could be ported relatively easily if a project supported
"Unix" (Linux/BSD/OS X) in the broad sense.

For games, maybe - given the need to optimize code. However, things like
Office or OpenOffice or PhotoShop are most often written as largely
platform-independent programs in things like C++.

Still, a Linux version, at least?  (Hey, GPL runs thru VMware, I
gather..) That's another 20+ million people you know!   ;)

Don't do it Eldred, I've raced these things for years, and they're just
about as ***ive as GPL!

(Note: if you do want to try your hand, I'd go for a secondhand but
ready-to-run competition 'kit' car (that is: no toy cars!) with an
electric engine. Far less hassle for a beginner than building an R/C
internal combustion car from scratch.

Cheaper too, a secondhand all-in kit could be as low as $ 100 - $ 150
these days.

And then I'd look around if there's an r/c car club in Detroit (should
be) to run some races in 'standard class'. Stay away from the
higher-powered semi-professional 'modified' classes, these cost big
bucks to keep up and that's part of why I quit doing national
competition and went back to club racing.
