GPL GEM Question

I have just installed the GEM start up utility for GPL, but for some reason
cant work out what the set up edit button is for. Also when I change my car
set up in the set up tab when i launch GPL it is always the one i had been
using previously not the new one i had selected.
Hope someone understands what i am on about and hopefully solve my problem
