NFS4 multiplayer question

by Kevi » Fri, 05 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I am trying to race a friend over the Internet with NFS4 (High Stakes)
and can't get it to work.

Is this possible? I have a cable modem, no proxies, and so does he. I
can ping his machine, and he mine.I go into the Connection menu, choose
Network (TCP) and select Host a game. He can never connect. I let him
try hosting and I choose Join a game, put in his IP address, and same
problem - no connection. I can Escape out, but can't connect. We both
have version 4.30 (the current update), WIN98, and the game works just
fine in single player mode.

Are there any network setup guides of FAQ's? Is what we are trying to do

possible? Is EARacing an option (he says you can't play on it yet). Any
help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My prior experience with EA games and netplay is that none of them work.  I
can't speak for Nascar Revolution (not worth its salt), but I remember
having and then returning NFS3 because the netplay did not work (and the
game was too arcadish).  Ditto the NHL series.  Ditto almost every other
game EA has produced, except for the golf series.

I know this has been said before but I'll say it again.  EA games, for the
most part, are poor.  They are poor from a realistic standpoint, poor in
gameplay, and have very poor netplay.  As far as I see it, why include a
netplay option when you darn well know it doesn't work, unless it is to
mislead?

Sorry but I TOTALLY disagree with you.  EA produces some of the best
games made.  What *** are you on?  You are definitely the minority.
