GPL and the shakes...

by Marc Collin » Tue, 23 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I can clearly see the jittering with the R4 (worse) or my Nascar Pro on the
Windows calibration screen.  I can predict how much arm movement there will
be from the calibration screen...

GPL and the shakes...

All with an Aureal Vortex A3D card, here are my findings :-
Thrustmaster F1                                                 Severe
shaking
Microsoft Sidewinder standard joystick           mild shaking
Microsoft Force feedback wheel                      No shaking     (except
in corners when losing grip )

All shown in GPL, MGPRS2, GP2 and in windows game contollers, with and
without Poll with interrupts and on both of the Gameport settings available
with the Vortex.

Voodoo 2, Win 98 (was 95)

BTW, with the TM Formula 1, I had to recalibrate after about half hour of
use, when the soundcard warmed up it was ok, strange.

much worst now ...

i have cleaned my pots before and never had this problem ...

whats wrong?

in GPL calibration screen i get 739 at full right usually, and now there is
a place in the center position that gives me 1800 ... :(

It maybe that the cleaner has finally diluted the lubricant in the pot
and it is now smeared all over the contacts.  It maybe time to replace
the pot, or take it apart and wipe the inside surfaces clean and put it
back together.   There are little tabs that old the pot together.  It's
a fairly easy process (except for the soldering).

Logically there should be more trembling with more responsive
setting, but I'm not sure, if I can see the difference.

I have a '98 TSW connected to  PDPI L4 gameport. Soundcard is SB16.
400Mhz processor, 128RAM, Diamond Monster 2. Serious shakes. I've
tried everything. Running WIN95. I don't know how to change deadzone
or dlinput.dll. Can it be done in WIN95?

p200MMX, Ensonic AudioPCI(SBlaster 64 drivers), directx6.1 and a
gamepad. (please don't laugh)

- minor shakes. in gpl.

upgraded to celeron333 today.

- moderate to *** shakes.

maybe it's the sound card.

tintinn
