Help....Diamond Stealth 3 (S3 32mb) problems

A friend of mine who has the following spec of machine, has just tried to
install a Diamond Stealth 3 (32mb) PCI in his machine. After installing the
drivers and rebooting, he has no icons on the desktop, and cannot use the
PC.

Pentium 233mmx
64mb ram
20x cd-rom
Motherboard type unknown (i haven't seen the PC)

Can anyone offer some advise for him (besides upgrading to a new machine)??
