I'd be interested in finding this out as well.  Heck, I'd even go a couple
of bucks for an add-on pack.  LOVE this puppy!!!  BTW, did you see the
screen shots in the Avault review?  There's a dandy wallpaper (how'd they do
that?) of a crash after turn 1 at Ridge Valley.

    Hi everyone,

It's sort of lame to post nothing but bad news, but...no, there aren't
going to be any new tracks released for VR.  Or a track editor.  Sorry.

At least you had the decency and courage to post at all, more than can
be said for a lot of reps.

Thanks

The patch is coming along pretty well; I just found some major bugs in
multiplayer last night, which will be fixed in the patch.  These fixes should
make MP a much more solid experience, with less warping and jumping cars -- and
fewer spurious disconnects.  To me, that's the most exciting thing in the
patch.  Here's the list of "what's in":

    BUGS

    Modem play fixed
    Multiplayer button "does nothing" fixed
    Memory leak fixed
    Garage Div0 fixed
    Replay: No engine sound fixed
Replay: Ensure mousebounds are appropriate for video mode
Periodic Multiplayer crash after synchronization fixed
    Multiplayer Synchronization lockups/disconnects fixed
Keepalives and other packet-loss sensitive factors boosted.

    FEATURES

IP address displayed on multiplayer screen
    Look left/right/back modifiable via options.cfg
    Airlift modifiable via options.cfg
Mirror: FOV improvement, modifiable via options.cfg
FOV changed to 60, modifiable via options.cfg
    Mirror: Appropriately sized to video-mode
Teleporting netcars are transparent, making them significantly less
hazardous
Logitech FF wheel has stronger forces

    The "setups" fix

There has been some confusion about how the save-setup interface works.
It's not very clear.  Although the interface looks like a file-save dialog, it
isn't one.  It's actually a "choose save slot" dialog, with the added ability
to "name a slot".  So, typical operation of the dialog involves choosing a slot
(by clicking on one of the rows below the input field) and then typing a name
in the input field.

Once I explained this process to a few people who reported the setups bug
(back when I was soliciting patch features), they seemed to think the process
was adequate -- if a little misleading.  Let me know if I'm missing the real
issue here.

Otherwise, some common "patch" feature requests were

    - Optionally disable "car reset" for *** racers
    - higher resolution video modes available
    - Optionally disable hornball in multiplayer
    - Frame rate counter
    - More cars
    - Gear display in replay
    - Ability to look backwards
    - Larger rear-view mirror
    - car editor
    - track editor
    - more tracks

Dave,
It's nice to know that not everyone is as secretive about forthcoming
patches as Papyrus.

Well, that's true but I want more tracks, dammit!  Is there a VR2 on the
horizon?
