GP2 Null Modem problems

by Rob van Rije » Mon, 04 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

Recently I've tried a multiplayer game with GP2 using a null-modem.
Every time it resulted in a synchronisation error (of something like
that, I don't remember the exact message) after a minute or so.

Has anybody had the same problem, and has been able to fix it?

(Please mail me, instead of the newsgroup. I hardly visit it!)

Thanks,

I had this problem, caused it seems by using GP Editor to change the game
on one computer and not the other.

Make sure GP2.EXE is identical on both machines.

The null modem link is poor, and usually requires that you turn down the
detail options to get a good frame rate. Still, we're never going to get
a network option or any other fix for GP2, so it's better than nothing.

It works best when both machines have similar performance (mainly CPU
speed).
