One of the main reasons that I bought F1RS was because it had a multiplay
feature. Nothing is more exciting and interesting than racing with human
opponents.
But, sad to say, I am very dissappointed with Ubisoft's attempt at
multiplay. Even with decent pings it is nearly impossible to get a 3
player race using Kali: with two player you need at least a ping below 500.
Further, though N2 was released some two years ago, F1RS is about in the
same league as N2 when it comes to ease of netplay. I'm very surprised
that Ubisoft did not include a TCP/IP type connection in F1RS. After all,
this is 1998.
But if you take a game like Microprose's Ultimate Racing Pro-- this one has
an excellent multiplay feature. You can play IPX using Kali or connect via
address (TCP/IP). I've played this one with four racers without the least
bit of warp.
The only problem with URP is that I prefer a racing simulator over an
arcade simulator, so I do like F1RS much better and do play it more.
Why can't Ubisoft give us a patch that specifically addresses this totally
awful multiplay module?
Thanks,
Alanb
