What, no one wants to discuss today's race?

I don't blame anyone LOL!

It was kind of neat that we finished the last 60% or so under green!

After the usual rash of early cautions the race turned out to be pretty
good. Congrats to Dean Moll for pulling out a commanding victory.

Forgot to save the replay and didn't see what caused the early yellows or
who was involved. Had two close scrapes myself.

First with John out of control in the tri-oval... gap between him and the
wall was about 1/2" too narrow. A little bonnet damage resulted, which gave
me quite a bad push in traffic.

Near the end Ed Solheim queezed me into the wall out of 2 as he unlapped
himself after his green flag stop. Quite a bit hit which bent the rear end
somewhat, but I didn't notice that untill the team started trying to fix it
in the pit. Luckily I was able to bring them to their senses before I lost
even more time with respect to the others.

Was quite a good race, I think. The usual mistakes at the rear of the field
and the usual impatience of the faster guys trying to get back to the front
after an incident/bad qual, of course, but not bad at all.

I wasn't out of control until Ed punted me after I bounced off the wall
coming out of turn 4 and onto the tri-oval.

:)

I find that the aliens among us (and now there are three - white,
grandy, and kroll) are patient one week, a bit less so the next, but
always fast.  The only hope we have to beat them is if A) they don't
show up in the first place, or B) they get caught up in an accident, or
C) the sim does something stupid to them.

I always drive with the F2 panel on and set to display real-time
intervals between cars.  It pays off to know who's behind you, who's
directly ahead, and how badly you're actually doing in the race. :)

I hadn't seen you hit. You were well out of control by the time I got to
you, however. <g>

True, and I don't have a problem with letting them go while there's still
laps to run. I just don't like it when, as in this race when he passed me in
the tri-oval, Grandy just plots a collision course and assumes I'll move. I
like to pick the spot and time where I go off line. I didn't come off 4
badly enough to warrant moving off line as a matter of course that time.

I check the F2 display regularly, but I find it too distracting to have on
all the time.

Well, as much as I'd like to complain about passing in the tri-oval,
it's simply the nature of the track. Cars passing other cars are
responsible for making sure the pass is made cleanly.  Sometimes it
simply doesn't happen like we'd like it to.

In the end, some folks (and most of us are guilty of this) are just too
concerned about passing, and don't slow down to avoid running wide.
Driving too deep into the turn is the primary cause of wrecks in the
turns, even if you're not two-wide.

Agree.

But on Saturday there where more times than I care to remember that I found myself forced to race someone into a turn.
The draft is so bad at Lowes that unless I chose to cook the tires I just could not pass coming off a turn.
As a result most of my passes were from the s/f to T1.

The racing we had up front Was very fun, and clean, and different pit strategies always add to the e***ment.

"tmack115"
. Taping down my pedals
That sounds like a good strategy for a SuperSpeedway, but isn't it tough
to brake with the throttle taped down??  LOL  (I know I know  Say no
more...wink wink, nudge nudge)
