Le Mans 24 Hrs

by Andi Col » Fri, 24 May 2002 17:09:21

www.softwarefirst.co.uk are showing two apparently different Le Mans games,
Le Mans 1.5 due in July and Le Mans 24 Hrs due tomorrow (24/5), both are by
Infogrames.

Can anyone tell me whether these have anything to do with each other and
whether they have anything to do with the original Infograme title, Le Mans
24 Hrs, that come out a while ago. They are not priced as budget
re-releases.

Cheers.

Is that the same developer, or is somebody else delivering the scenery
this time ?

I am just kidding, I only reply cause I got frustrated with that other
LeMans game, some years ago .. didn't like that, altough the idea behind
it is GREAT ... And I would like to see a sim (or arcade .. what the
f_ck) of this incredible (can we say
'making-the-US-jeaulous'-racing-event) ...

nuff said .. I liked the fact you could do a race in 24 minutes .. .with
sunset and all of that ... pitty I didn't play this game 24 minutes in
total ...

Le Mans 24 Hrs

A funny side-note..

My friends have the LeMans 24Hour for the Dreamcast. You can play it
realtime, so the race takes 24 hours...

Two of my friends actually did the 24 hour race, switching every 6 hours or
something without ever pausing the game. They started the race at the proper
time (4PM I think?) so it got dark in the game the same time it got dark
outside and everything! They set up a camcorder too, and they turned it on
for a few minutes every hour to give an update on how the race is going.
It's a hilarious video to watch.. you can see piles of coke cans stacking up
every hour, and pizza boxes. Towards the last few hours, neither of them are
making any sense and they're just mumbling and complaining about their eyes!
It's awesome..

They came in 1st too.. made the last pass at the 21 hour mark I think.

I played that LeMans 24 hours 1.5 on the pc yesterday, and that was
not funny at all! The only thing I liked about it was the menu music
and the sense of speed on the straight at LeMans.
The rest is ***:-/

Does this game have a "cockpit view" I have not been able to determine that
from what I have read...LeMans is my favorite race and if it has the incar view
I would buy it anyway just to try it out...

It has a view over the hood with the front fenders visible.
The view is approximately from the top of the windscreen.
Pretty cool, actually! If you like the LeMans race and can live
with some semi-arcade handling, buy it now..

Is 1.5 the sequel to the previous PC version or to the Dreamcast
version?

The DC version had a lot of promise while the PC version was one of
the worst games I've ever played.

It's the sequel to the PS2 version, which was a sequel to the
Dreamcast version. It has nothing to do with the PC version.
Different engine, developers, etc..
