Bleem, Grand Tourismo and TM T2

I'm toying with the Bleem Demo and GT borrowed from a mate as a
diversion from GPL. I not a psx owner though and struggling to
understand what T2 controls to map to which funny playstation icon. Has
anyone done this ?
PSX offers <> and ^v as well as XO and the other two coloured symbols.
Ideally I'd like it set like GPL - Brake and Accel on pedals, steer left
and right with wheel and gear change on buttons 1 and 2
