That truly is something worth pondering over. .............

Money to burn...?  I *wish* I had that problem...<g>

Strange, but having spoken to the West brothers on Friday, Saturday & Sunday
at Goodwood several times about Racing Legends on the GPL stand, I can't
remember them ever saying "1 non licensed car, 1 non licensed track, $150".
Some people are obviously psychic.

Oh.. I see the CONcept.

Will any of these fancy, colorful new games have a Hot Wheels theme Mark?  I
hope so!  I can't wait to race in all the cars I have been using since I was
a child. Imagine, an unlimited supply of track.  WHAT A CONCEPT!

Cheaters never win Mark.

The price I'm referring to was pulled from a post on West-Racing from an
individual that also spoke with the Wests.  They said that was the
price that was being considered.

As far as I could tell from reading that thread the figure you quote was an
off the cuff reply to a question in which a hypothetical number of buyers
(?5000?) was posited by the questioner. Given that number of buyers perhaps
thats the price the Wests would need to sell it for to recover their costs
and make it all worthwhile. However that was a number of buyers that the
questioner put forward, not the Wests. The Wests merely answered a specific
hypothetical question, they didn't put forward a business case. I wouldn't
make too much of that guesstimate.

I have some audio gear that is midi controllable. I also have some software
that controls midi devices. This software is fairly simple in design, midi
is really simple, but there is so much gear out there that the software
company could never make control modules for every piece of gear. So they
let us make our own modules.

It goes like this: I pay 100 bucks for the core program and 1 module. I can
buy more modules from anybody I like. If I buy your module from you I might
pay 20 bucks and you get twenty. If I buy your module off the software's web
site I might pay 21 bucks, but I know for a fact that it's good stuff. It's
a great system. There might be 40 of us out here who love the DP4 and use it
daily. Without the little guy making mods, we'd be out of luck. Big
companies wouldn't waste their time. The software company is not loosing
money in any way because they keep plugging away at the high demand stuff.

Not that I know of but to get back on track, I quote from the West Bros FAQ
on their website.

Q: Only 1 car and 1 track in the initial release?

A: Some more confusion here. It was mentioned at Goodwood that there would
only be one car and track to start in Racing Legends. This was refering to
the initial beta test version of Racing Legends and not the Release
version......

Wanna continue being part of the rumour mill or spreading the word of
unsubstantiated claims?

I am not at all interested in RL so you speculate on the vapor all you want.
Just remember,  Everything the West's have "claimed" thus far is
"unsubstantiated".

As far as "continue being part of the rumour mill or spreading the word of
unsubstantiated claims", I have not done either, really the most
"unsubstantiated claim" in all of this is the RL CONcept itself.

My point in all of this is that I won't be holding my breath waiting for RL
to be released and thank god I wasn't doing the same thing waiting for WSC.

It is quite the pipe dream. I wish them good luck.
