F1RS V1.09 is a keeper.

I just finished comparing V1.09 to V1.05. V1.09 is much much
better. BTW, this is the 3dfx version.

1) Slowdowns on the first lap are gone, well 98% of them :-)
2) AI is very much improved. At least the AMTR level is...
3) In V1.05 when you would load a saved game you would
loose clouds. If there were no clouds when you saved, no
big deal. But if there were clouds, they should be there
when you load the game. It works now.
4) The car seems looser. Since I was comparing V1.05 then
playing V1.09 the effect was very apparent. Over all I liked
the looseness of V1.09 (you have to drive it better).
5) Finally for the first time I lapped a car which was spewing
white smoke. I have races 25% races at all the tracks and
have never seen this with V1.05.

It's taken you a while, but I'm glad you're happy at last!

You forgot to mention the sticky grass problem, it's gone, too!

Ditto.  Your a regular poster, and I was wondering why you
had frame rate problems and other problems with the patches.

My F1RS problems didn't start until I installed Office 97.
It's gone now, and everything runs fine.

That is because the sticky grass problem still is there (In chicago
anyway :-) . It may be toned down some, but I went into the grass
doing 200kph at Imola and slowed down quite nicely. I know it is
V1.09 so that is why I am thinking it is maybe slightly less sticky,
but still sticky. I slowed to 120kph pretty quickly.

Frankly when patches came out I would ignore them after V1.07.
V1.07 produced very apparent poor framerates. Plus I have
been busy with the Iraq Campaign in F-15. Anyway I now have
some time to dedicate to F1RS again.

What is the deal with the carsets? I downloaded some and
was going to give it a try. Some of those***pits look quite
good.

Hey I was wondering that too :-) After all I am an NT system administrator
in real life and support over 110 PC's. I guess no one knows it all :-)

Hmmm. I had Office97 before I had F1RS... But I suppose it is possible.
Anyway it is fixed with V1.09.

Go for it.  They add a lot to the enjoyment of the sim.  If you use the
carsets and installers available at either www.f1racingsim.com or
http://www.racesimcentral.net/***pits install
quite nicely.  And while you're at it, might as well go for the track
updates as well.  The ones I've use are by "Grandpaint" and quite nice.  And
thanks to all those supplying these extras and the websites for making them
available to us.  It's much appreciated.

Ditto! I too would like to thank everyone who has contributed with this.
It really adds life to the game.
