TM GP1 and Screamer 2

Ok, it's not really a sim, but the "knowledge" to answer the
question might be available in this group.

I've just bought a TM GP1 to replace a Suncom G-Force flight
yoke/wheel, as I felt driving would be better with analogue
accelerato and brake rather than the buttons on the yoke.

Tried it with GP2 and Indycar (1) and the improvement was
unbelievable - qualified on Pole in GP2 and managed to win an
Indycar race at Laguna Seca (never mind the details - I'd never
been THAT good before under identical set-ups with the yoke).

So, impressed with my new found "talent" I turned to Screamer 2
to see what improvement the GP1 would make to that game - and I
was awful !!  Whereas with the yoke I could actually win an arcade
race at each of the first three tracks, with the GP1 I was left in
their dust !  I was way off the pace.

So, would anyone like to profer any theories about why this might be so ?
As far as I can see the accelerator and brake are calibrating
properly - the rev counter seems to top out at full speed.  The
only other difference from the yoke is the GP1 has a larger rotation
angle.  Could it be that I just need to adjust my style more (ie
practice a bit more) to get used to the GP1, or could there be more
subtle (electrical/software) effects at play here ?  It did feel as
though the GP1 required to be "worked at" more to be effectice (I put
that down to the larger turning angle of the wheel) - in other words
the yoke required a short, quick flick to get through corners (held
for longer, slower corners) whereas the GP1 seems to require many more,
smaller adjustments to get around the same turn.  Does this indicate
some steering calibration problem that I can't really see but I'm
actually maybe "wiggling" all the time (difficult to see as there aren't
any decent straights do drive along which might show it up more).
