Is that good? I've not played Ford racing.
Sorry to be such a wet blanket about all this, but I can't help but
feel that a project like this with such lofty aspirations and no
definite deadline has the potential to be either truly great, or to be
the ultimate form of vaporware -- and until we see the finished
product, the jury is still out. And if/when it DOES materialize, I'm
guessing that even those of you with Athlon 700 systems or better will
still be sorely taxed to run it.
I do admit that it looks and sounds great, but until I see the final
product run on MY computer, I'm going to try to keep the e***ment in
check.

I hate to be a stick-in-the-mud about this too but I feel when
something looks too good to be true it always is.
Graphics that photo-realisitc HAVE to have a price somewhere.
Either dumb AI, slow-as-molasses frame rates or SOMETHING.
Tell me I need a 1GHZ machine with 256 Megs RAM and a GeForce card to
run it at 25 fps and THEN I will believe the hype.
Or better yet, put out a tech demo showing it work. With AI and
running on a 400Mhz P2 with 64 megs of RAM and a TNT2 Ultra card.
Screenshots don't mean diddly.
Being an avid flight-simmer as well I remember when all the hype about
Flanker 2.0 was spreading.
The company released some fatalistic screen shots of the game.
After closer inspection myself and some others said no f***ing way.
Too crisp and smooth. The screenshots look doctored.
Well, as it turns out Flanker 2 does NOT look like the screen shots
showed.
I posted a review about Ford Racing a while back and the folks making
WSC contacted me the next day saying how Ford Racing was not what they
wanted to make.
They said they wanted my input as a beta tester and would be
contacting me shortly.
Hmmp.. I haven't heard diddly from them since that last e-mail 2
months ago and it looks like SOME people are already beta testing for
them.
Did they just do it (ask me to beta test) to shut me up?
Or maybe they only want people who will spread the good word about how
great WSC is going to be to beta test?
Makes one wonder.

I feel the same way as you. We've been disappointed too many times. The
list is endless. Even CPR was hyped by Microsoft as being the next step in
racing sims. At least it made the retail shelves. The Can-Am, and Trans-Am
sims never even got that far, and all we read here was how great they were.
I read the interview, and looked at all the pics. And WSC has the
makings of the next benchmark of auto racing sims. But as you said, looks is
one thing, trying out the finished product or beta is quite another matter.
All I know for sure is that they are "creating" WSC on a P11/450. So
hopefully the majority of us can run it as it was intended to be run.

Just to be fair, the CAN-AM sim by Motorsims got canned because of the state
of confusion with the SCCA and the other sanctioning bodies in regards to
sports car racing. SCCA pulled the plug on the CAN-AM series last year and
thus Motorsims, who own a SCCA license, cancelled the title along with it.
Although the original TA sim was cancelled, Motorsims is currently working
on a Trans-Am title.
However, I agree with you guys. I do not count on anything until I have
actually had a chance to test the title.
