Okay, I've just been watching 'Grand Prix' the movie and I want to
race at Monaco. Is it definite that this course will not be in the
sim?
*Fingers crossed.*

GPL when released is gonna sell a gajillion copies. Figure
they sell 250,000 copies ( not unreasonable) at 50.00 each
Thats a gross revenue of 12.5 MILLION dollars.
Now tell me about not being able to afford a liscencing fee
( if there even is one) when every other F1 sim seems to
have Monaco.
BTW you now owe me a fee for reading your drivel.

Gross revenues to CUC Software. They are known to not be very generous on
the pocket. THey let the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and also the Daytona
International Speedway slip under their hands to SEGA of America.
There is number of reason the FIA and the Monaco Principality don't want to
see a track modelled into the game. From the dangerous layout of these old
days, the security that was laking. If CUC doesn't offer a higher price than
other titles, why should they accept to model it ??
Oh and btw, for those who tried Andretti Racing (old one) on the PSX, check
out the track layout. Some of them are ACTUAL tracks (I can recall
Interlagos) but under different name and graphics. They are really close to
actual illegal copyrighting.
I'm sure you will buy it even if it's not in the simulator. Shame to you if
not. There is enough challenge besides.

How to get rid of censorship in German game releases

'---''(_/--' `-'\_) screaming their heads off!
Here we see, once again, that the people who are the most deliberately
insulting are, curiously enough, those who hide their identities behind
exceptionally lame "spam blockers". Trolling has become such an art form
in this NG that rank amateurs need not apply...
BTW, the paraphrasis regarding spammers which you ascribe to "B.
Franklin" is actually a (crudely) disfigured line from W. Shakespeare.
If you're going to affect a level of literary erudition to which you
clearly have not risen, at least get the attribution right...

Monaco is acknowledged by F1 drivers to be the worst track of the
year, and to say Monaco is the "raison d'etre" or the "jewel in the
crown" is to exhibit a spectacular misunderstanding of the sport.
Either that or simply a wish to moan about everything related to GPL.
Shall we take a quick vote on which it is?
AFAIK there is nothing announced one way or the other about Monaco, so
unless you are a manic depressive please wait to be disappointed
before being so.
That's quite enough attention for now.
Cheers!
John
> You've "got a spectacular misunderstanding" about what Monaco represents to the F1 community. The cache of Monaco is so great that it has remained on the F1 calendar year in year out despite the fact that it is totally unsuitable for a present day F1 race.>>
Without argument, Monaco has a "cachet" (the word for which you were
unsuccesfully groping); but truth oft wears a wry face, and your
assertion that Monaco is "totally unsuitable for a present day F1 race"
is about the only sensible thing I've seen you post yet, though I'm sure
you meant it entirely differently: since we're talking about F1 races of
a generation ago rather than today, perhaps your circuitous reasoning
has a logic you didn't intend, or quite possibly even perceive.
Be that as it may, in the last few years the Automobile Club of Monaco,
like the ACO, FIA, and IMS, have awakened to the cachet of their own
venue, and started demanding licensing fees for the use of their name
and various "trademark" elements of the yearly GP. If you don't think
that's true -- and you've apparently convinced yourself that WHATEVER
you think has the imprimatur of the One Truth -- you might want to
contact M. Roy Hulsbergen, of Interactive Media Development S. C. S. in
Monaco. I'm sure he'd be glad to explain it all to you.
<<You are so wrong. Why are people in this NG so misguided?>>
Do you troll in every newsgroup, or just this one?

Hmmm...you don't suppose Bandini's fatal '67 accident would have anything
to do with this decision, would you???
