C.P.R. joystick problem

Well, seems like the GPL demo has stolen this NG's heart, but I have a
Cart Precision Racing question for anyone who can answer.
I bought CPR today and think it is a game with potential, however I
cannot get my flightstick Pro and rudder pedals to work properly.
I initially started with the controller setup as the CH FS pro with the
pedals setup in the car position.  (These CH pedals have a switch for car
and plane, when car is selected the pedals are on different channels, ie.
gas and brake. When plane is selected the are one channel.)  Under this
config NFSIIse works great, both gas and brake are independent allowing for
braking under power. CPR however doesnt think there are two pedals.  When
starting a practice run the gas pedal doesnt provide any throttle untill
pressed half way.  When letting off the peddal, full brakes are on, locking
up the wheels.
I've been in and out of the control panel, game controller properties
about 30 times trying different config's.  I config'd it as a custom device,
as a TI wheel, as a 2 button 2 axis stick, with and without pedals.  I'm at
a loss
The best luck I had was setting it up as a T1 wheel without pedals. This
config used the pedals as the up and down on the joystick.  This was ok
untill I realized that the car went full throttle when the brake and
throttle were both neutral.
Anybody that has any insight, please respond.

I'm gonna go D/L the GPL demo.
