I have a Monster 3D for 3D but I want to replace my Intergraph Intense
3D with a better 2D card for GP2. Any advice?

Think either Diamond or ATI. Bith make great 2D and 3D boards. Even better
wait till this summer for the new generation 2D/3D boards.

Someone ran some tests on GP2 with various graphics cards and all the
results came out exactly the same - Evidently it doesn't matter what card
you have.
Sorry i can't remeber the web page - it was something to do with GP2
Benchmark on Pieters site (if its still running).

That's correct, as GP2 relies solely on the processor for its
screen-refresh speed.

I changed a 2Mb(DRAM) Diamond Stealth (trio 64V+) PCI card for a
2Mb(WRAM) Matrox Millenium in a 32Mb Cyrix P150+ machine. The upshot
was that without changing the frame rate I saw a reduction in the
processor occupancy of between 10 and 20%. The most noticeable
difference was in the handling of static trackside objects such as the
trees.
Wow: the GP2 Processor Occupancy may be what you thinking of, but the
results are wildly diverse. Anyway, check this out...

if your trying to find an optimum system configurationfor GP2
performance.

There have been a lot of contradicting reports about this. I was
thinking...maybe you need to reinstall the game after you replaced the videocard
to see a difference? (I really don't know, but maybe this causes the different
things you hear about the influence of a videocard)
One thing is 100% sure: a PROCESSOR upgrade would boost performance!

personally I have a velocity 128 in a p2 266 and with gp2 I can have nearly
all details turned on in 640x480 mode, the only thing I shut off is certain
objects in the mirrors. It chuggs sometimes when you spin out, otherwise I
have about 80% occupancy.
I have a millenium and it is fantastic for gp2
