Where'd you get these preposterous numbers?
The most powerful current F1 engines (Peugeot, Renault, Mugen-Honda and
Mercedes Benz, I'd wager) will probably give you around 700 bhp in
qualifying trim.( In a poster by Shell promoting their new F310 scale
model it says on the current Ferrari V10 600+ hp)

As for the Indycars I think it was Gil DeFerran (or some other driver)
in Autosport whoo said this sommer that Honda would probably exceed the
800 bhp mark by the end of the year.
