        Good news :
Papy sticks firmly on realistic simulation (I never doubt )
        Sad news :
No more historic sims - no market

I just hope that Motor City Online and Rally Tropfy
will open market.

Well, talking about NASCAR Legends he said

"I'm a big fan of historic racing. In many ways, I think it's vastly
superior to the heavily sanitized racing and cardboard personalities we see
at the track these days. Unfortunately, that title didn't exactly fly off
the shelves. The public seems to have little interest in historic racing, so
I doubt that we'd ever do another historic stock car title. But, in this
industry you never say never."

So maybe another historic open wheel sim isn't out of the question :)

The way I interped it is that another historic *stockcar* sim is out of the
question.

We've allready heard that both Kaemmer and Cassidy would love to do a sequel
to GPL or a modern open wheel sim.. so I find it hard to believe that thats
all of a sudden out of the question.

Just because they would love to doesn't mean the Sierra 'suits' will allow
it... :(

Except that Kaemmer is said to have left Papy some time ago.
Maybe Sierra/Papy isnt interested in historic racing, but Kaemmer seems to
be more than capable of finding another team of people and do what he likes
to do (except run in his real openwheeler)

The bit about Kaemmer leaving was squashed pretty quickly by Papyrus.  I
wouldn't go reading too much into what Yasi did or didn't say.  Papyrus has
had a policy from the very beginning of not discussing upcomming projects
until they have been officially announced.  Trying to read between the lines
will only set us up for heartbreak or frustration.
"IF" somebody at Papy says they are working on a new open wheel
title..THEN we can get all e***d.  But to try and parse what he inferred
by not saying yes or no is futile.

What did they (Sierra) expect?  They released the
highly-anticipated NASCAR3 in October 1999 or so, then quietly slipped
NASCAR Legends out the door 30 days later.  It's a given that it
(Legends) will have less appeal to many of today's newer/younger fans,
but if you don't promote it and you release it in the shadow of your
blockbuster annual sim, WTF do you expect?!?  <sigh>

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

The split has killed any chance of PAPY making a modern CART sim
Papy will continue to produce nothing but Nascar sims

The end has come very sadly....... :(

Let's all thank Tony george for saving American open wheel racing!!!!!!

Someone please shoot him!

If you want a modern CART sim put all your hope behind www.champweb.net/ISI/EA
SPORTS

Please email ISI and EA Sports and tell em you want a modern CART sim

There is no market for it according to PAPY - for them its Nascar Nascar Nascar
- although they would love to do a modern CART sim if they were ALLOWED
too..........
