Is anyone able to change video settings? Whenever I do it kicks me back to
windows.

No, tried this demo on 3 machines with 3 different 3d cards and 2 didnt even
get to the game and one just bombed out straightaway.

There is a new demo out, which is half the size of the original.  I tried it
on XP and it worked just fine.  At first glance, the game seems decent, with
longer stages and such.  However, I couldn't find a***pit mode.

Look at the screenshots in the preview on gamesdomain.com from a few
months back.  Not only is there a***pit view, but the windshield is
covered in crud.  Looks pretty nice (don't remember if it had working
gauges or not tho).

I wasn't able to get the***pit view in the demo either, fwiw.

The demo looks nice.  I was impressed by the stage in the demo, and
apparently the full game will allow you to run the full master rallye
from start to finish.  There are lots of nice valleys and such to fall
into and destroy your car (including rivers...had a viper racing
flashback, hehe).  I was only able to play with keyboard, since it
wasn't on my home machine, but the physics modeling was at least
believable.  The cars slide on dirt and won't climb up vertical cliff
faces like in that awful new Rally Champ game (whomever at Actualize
decided to can Magnetic Fields should be canned themselves).  I'll
need to try it with the wheel to get a better impression but I found
the keyboard handling to be on par with the Rally Trophy demo and the
stage was much much better, imho.  If the physics are solid I think
Master Rallye may be the sleeper racing sim of this winter, especially
since NO ONE is using real stages in their sims.  I have yet to see a
fictional stage in a rally sim that was as fun as the real stages in
RC2000 and the MR demo.

I love rallying on my pc so much, I wish someone would put out a sim
with a good tire model and real 20 mile stages from actual events.  I
could wipe all the circuit-based sims from my hd.  As it stands I've
been through half a dozen rally games and RC2000 is still the only one
I have installed.

Just downloaded the smaller demo and have been
tossing it around with an Act Labs Force RS.  Very
nice.  Very nice indeed.  Managed to get all the
different views to work and to shift manually
while driving through the countryside, including
farm yards.  Given that this title is going to
ship for a budget price in the US, it could well
be a sleeper title.

Do you get an in-car view ??

Would like to see the steering wheel moving.
It feels like there is a large dead-zone here on my system ? (LWFF)

Cant find any axis settings anywhere ??

Anyway, I miss some pace-notes, keep missing the turns.

Sense of speed is not impressing compared to RC2000.

Not sure about the handling, this 'big-deadzone' feeling ruins the game for
me.

As the game is now it won't end up under my christmas tree  :-)

>Do you get an in-car view ??

No -- in-car appears to be the one view that
Master Rallye doesn't to have.

Not me.  ;)  I prefer NOT to see the wheel or the
fake hands....

It's possible that a joystick configuration
utility like CTFJ! could solve that.  I did not
notice a huge dead-zone.
Don't believe there are any.  There is, however,
an easily editable configuration file.  Might be
worth poking around in there.
Me, too.  Then I figured out that I should be
paying attention to the handy little compass in
the lower left.  I ignored it for a while and
wound up driving (repeatedly!) into a river!  :P
Were you racing alone or with other vehicles?
Racing against other vehicles makes a big
difference.
Understandable.  Like I said, CTFJ! might help.
You can find it here:

http://home.att.net/~stickworks/
That should leave room, then, for Rally Trophy!

:D

You're very welcome.  Better yet, this is the
improved, leaner 70MB demo.  ;)

Agree I always drive with bumper view.
But to test for a dead-zone seeing the steering would help...

Thanks again,
I just had a blast around, and here are my thoughts. In looks and feel
it is quite a lot like the Motocross madness series, tho with much
nicer scenery. I would like the option to drive anywhere rather than
keep being moved forcefully back onto the track. On the subject of
force, my Logitech MOMO gave little in the way of FF, compared to how
much I get in NFS:PU, there is next to none. I hope that they get this
sorted out by the final release. The lack of FF made for a somewhat
distanced feel, and I guess it will be a lot more fun when that is
working fully. Overall, I liked it, tho sometimes it would be nice to
have some pace notes....

I missed pace notes, too, until I realized the
compass in the lower left was trying to help me
find my way.  :P  (Notice I said "trying."  I
managed to visit a number of fine bodies of water
before I figured that out.)

I for one will probably get this when it comes out, I don't have
enough racing games to play with this fantastic wheel (is there any
such thing as 'enough racing games'? ^_^).
Currently I only have NFS:PU, Le mans 24 hours and Star Wars pod
racer. Not a very good selection, other than NFS I know, but I only
recently got back into racing games, having spent a LOOOOONG time
enjoying 1st person blast em ups.
