Rally champ writeoff: what about Rally Masters ?

Now that it is obvious that Rally Champ will
have the same invisible wall around the track,
and we will keep that game for a sunday afternoon
acrade play...

What about Rally Master ?
It is any better ?

Well as it happens there are ppl who just love the demo of rally2000 (like
me). Flaming it for invisible wall around the track is quite same as ***in
for small skidmarks texturebuffer imo. You cant let a good game down on that
excuse. The physics engine is quite realistic even now experienced with kb
and theyre still working on it (got 10:35 after ~10 runs)

I've heard that in rallymasters you can drive up to 180 kilometers off the
track! (thats when the invisible gasolinetank goes empty)

How would we know if it's any better, like you put it? Who says the game
will be more realistic or better? You can't compare what you have now with
something which will be released next year. You can't write off a game on
the promises of an other game.

I guess we'll write down your name and we'll see what you think of the full
version of RC...

Um, so?  GPL has invisible walls too.  So do a lot of sims.  The point is
you are SUPPOSED to stay on the course, not wander all over creation.

Well, the limits are much more closer.  If I hit those invisible walls,
normally trees, I should stop there, not bounce back.  If I hit a tree in
real-life with a Rally Car, I stop there.  Boom, my rally is finished.  Per
example, there is some tight 90+degree corners there.  You can just throw
the car into a slide and stop the car on a set of trees.  There is no damage
in the demo, so we all hope that it will be accurate in the final sim.

All those bumps in the game that really throw the car 4-5feet in the air, in
real-life you won't do that much until you brake your suspension.

Oh I agree.  I'd prefer to see the walls in RC moved farther back and for
them
to use the vegetation and terrain on the sides of the road for the "walls".
And
yes, if in a rally car if I hit a tree I'd better have ended my race!

huh ?

invisible wall in GPL ?
I wish so too.
Then I would not go off the tracks so readily

Yeah that's a good idea   :-0

yes

I would like to go off some cliffs too
not take corners with full impunity

And I would love to see the coding to implement an infinite playing
field...  Think of the MS flight sims; you can fly all around the world,
but there sure isn't much to look at.

As long as there are real things like fences and walls defining the
boundaries (which there are... thank you MF), then I'm happy.
