Hello.

Well Gran Turismo 3 has me hooked and now i'd like to race online against
some real AI er.. humans ;)

Grand Prix Legends seems to be the favorite and i've driven it a bit a long
time ago when it debuted. But i dont remember it having any online play and
i have no clue as to how you are all playing it online. Its amazingly old
but it was incredibly good. Although the graphics are beyond dated now.

Are there any realistic F1 sims? IRL sims?

Which sim to most people play?  I'm not a big nascar fan so i'm not looking
for nascar stuff.

Anyways thanks in advance.

You should take a look at http://vroc.net for details on racing GPL online.
Also I'll shamelessly plug my Beginner's Guide to GPL at
http://www.legendscentral.com/gplintro.shtml which you may find useful.

Online racing in GPL is achieved using a utility called WinVROC.  This
displays a list of race server along with a number of chatrooms.  To race
online you need to patch to version 1.2.0.1 of GPL.

Update all the GPL car graphics in one go with the JF carset available at
http://jfcarsets.cjb.net/

Be warned you need a fairly powerful machine if you have all of these
installed - my PII-450 / GF2GTS struggles both online and offline with these
cars. I backed up my original car folders before installing and I now swap
them in and out, e.g. when racing a Lotus online I will remove the JF
carsets for the other six cars and use the default low quality stuff. My
dashboard stays nice and high res and I still have constant 36 fps.
