Are they EVER gonna get it into my local Egghead or EB store? I check back every
week and still nuttin'. Everyone says to try it but I REALLY feel left out over
here.

Why? Many people in the US have F1RS. Is there some reason
you cannot call 1-800-UBISOFT?

I called 1-800-UBISOFT yesterday.  The version that they are selling is NOT
the North American version.....it is the UK version.  And the UK version
that they are selling is NOT a complete version of the game.  You have to
download patch (es)?  He said that the U.S. version will be out in March and
will be the complete and final product.  No patches to load.

Wow, big deal. Patches. I've got the UK version here in Texas, and played it
without any patches for a while. All games need patches sooner or later,
that's just something you get used to. The US version will have thier LATEST
patch already, but I'll bet that there will be more patches after that
release. It's not that hard to d/l the patch and install it. It's well worth
it to play the patched game now, than wait for a version already patched for
you.

Correct, but other than the patches it is the same game. My CD says
"English Version".

Big deal. I really don't see how waiting so that you will not have to apply
patches will help. The game is fine except for some minor menu problems.

But whatever :-)

Call 1-800-UBI-SOFT. ORdered mine 2 weeks ago on Thrusday-had it Monday.
English version 3dfx only, but it's the best I've experienced in F1 sims.

says...
The patch your refering to is the 105 patch that is easily available for
download at 222.f1racingsim.com. Installed in seconds and been racing - the
complete game - for the last two weeks. First complete season's race to start
tonite. Nothing's missing UNLESS you do not have a 3dfx compatable card. The
D3D version will be included in the March release - this per UBISOFT as of
yesterday.

So there's absolutely *nothing* at all they are going to do to the U.S.
version before its released?  Not even language-wise?  Is there an
announcer/commentator in the game?  I find it hard to believe that just
adding the patch to the game would take an extra month or two.  I would
think they would fix other problems that people have been having too.
Anyone know FOR SURE?
Thank You,
Aaron

Then I would say, "Wait until March and quit bugging us because there is
nothing anyone on this newsgroup can do to make UbiSoft go any faster."

Play the UK version.  Gee, what's the difference, the announcer has an
accent??

Please tell me you're not serious.

You mean to tell me that you called UbiSoft in order to get the game, then
asked a bunch of questions about the UK/US versions of the game.  Decided
that loading a patch is too much like work, and then come here and expect a
bunch of users to tell you something that you can't learn by calling the
developer???

Yes there is an announcer and he talks just like any other normal human.  If
they add something more in the next release, I guess I'll just have to
download that then.  Does anyone know for sure??  Well if the developer
doesn't know, I would then say, no, noone does.

Nothing. I am playing the English version, and since I am in the US
that is fine by me.

Somewhat of a commentator. Not as annoying as the nutty one if
Psygnosis F1 and not as good as the Nascar2 'spotter'. But he
tells you that you won the pole, yellow flag, last lap and maybe one
or two other things.

Because they are remastering new CD's with the latest patch it could
well take that much time.

Guys, the probable reason for the delay is that there is another patch on
its way real soon!

I figured that as well....plus I got that "pre-release" version of POD that
came with my computer and went through hell trying to download the patch
from the Ubisoft website, then went through hell trying to get the patch
installed.  So in other words....I have had bad experiences with Ubisoft and
patches before and would like to avoid having them again.  Quit being
***s guys.
