You posted this when most users are already offline...give it time and I'm
sure your trolling will reward you.

It's pretty poo, actually, but everyone here pretends to like it in order to
feel accepted.

IMHO what makes it so good is I can read the book "Going Faster" by
Skip Barber racing school, then try alot of the things mentioned in
this book and they actually work in GPL... and my lap times get better
and better since I started reading this book.

Which to me proves that GPL is very close if not dead on to accuratly
simulating real world physics,, perfect ?  Nope,, but ***y close.

The minty fresh taste. It's a sim, it's a breath freshener....

GPL is arguably the best "overall" race sim out there at the moment.

There might be others that have say, better physics but suck at online play,
or better graphics but only 16-18 tracks etc..

Plus with the '67 era cars setup is, if not easy to get right, is at least
easier to understand then modern race cars with wings, ride height, traction
control etc..

As for the "arguably" part, wait for the flames....

I think it is an important factor that the cars simulated by
GPL have very soft chassis compared to modern cars. This makes
everything in the dynamics happen a lot slower which reduces
the problems with the limitations in a PC simulation (low frame
rate, low resolution, high control delay etc).

In other words, a good model of an easy target makes an
excellent simulation.

Modern F1 (and even modern sports car) simulations have
a much harder problem to solve. It might even be impossible
to achieve the fidelity of GPL with a modern F1 simulation
on todays PCs.

Actually, I suck big time at GPL (haven't put the hours in), and I much
prefer Viper Racing or Grand Prix 3, the only advantage that GPL has is the
fact you don't need the CD to play.  It's also ***y time consuming.
