SCGT

Today I got sudden inspiration to give the free copy of SCGT which came with
my LWFF another try, having previously discarded it after 10 minutes as
being a poor game.

Anyway, I've just been driving around a bit and changed my mind.  This sim
has potential.  I've downloaded the Advanced Options Editor, the visual
damage patch, the all dash patch and the official add on cars, all of which
seem to add significantly to the game.  The AOE particularly seems to make
all the difference.

I've now come up with a few questions to tax your brains on a Friday night
after closing time.  I know this may be a little difficult after a Friday
night out on the p**s but if you can't manage to answer them tonight,
tomorrow will be fine after you've recovered from your hangovers.  Of course
for our Antipodean friends these will already have set in!

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to use two controllers in the game? i.e. an LWFF and CH
Pedals

2. Is it possible to get a pit board to come up at the end of each lap
without having the constant time readout in the top left hand corner?

3. Is it possible to switch off the position bar at the bottom of the
screen?

4. Do you have to run the AOE every time you play or just once?

5. Is there a patch to enable headlights?  I've not driven around in such
darkness since before I replaced the sealed beam headlights in the MGB I
used to own with halogen ones.

6. Are there any other recommended downloads?  The 30Mb ALMS will have to
wait until Monday morning when I'm back at work!

Thanks in advance.

<snip>

Don't know. Doubt it.

No, I don't think so.

Might be. Can't remember (hey, these are useful answers, aren't they?)

Every time. It's seriously annoying.

There's no patch! This is, IMO, the single most annoying thing about
SCGT. Someone *please* write a patch! NOW!

Try some of the dashes. It makes it a lot more interesting having
different dashes for each car.

I'm glad to hear you are giving it a chance.  It is a great simulation.. it
just needs some work with patches and add-ons.

Probably not.  Would take a lot of work..   I simply use Single axis and it
works fine.  1st place in the GTIC Road Atlanta Wet race, can't be bad  :-)

No.  Not yet..  nothing on the horizon either.

F5 I believe will do that.

Everytime you change any settings, ie add another car.  You have to run teh
AOE.  A pain, but it only takes 10 seconds max.

There are patches to change the "colour" of the lights.  But nothing for
incar..  which is a pity.

Yes, although I don't know whick key does it.

The way it was explained to me, you have to run AoE everytime.  I'm
not sure about just when changes are made cuz I'M always making changes
to the dang sim.

No.  Only when using the <COUGH> tail gunner view.  SCGT originally
had no code for ANY***pit views so they never put in lights.  You CAN
make things better by going to the options screen and turning the GAMMA
setting all the way up.  Also increase your vid cards gamma and even
your monitor...

ALMS is a keeper, the Service Pak 3.0 & 3.1.  The gazillions of cars
available, especially the updated LMP cars by BMW, Audi, and Panoz.
Silverstone, a great translation of the Toca2 track.  Vipers, Vipers,
Vipers...

Unfortunately, I haven't played in a while, and there are lot's of replies
saying there is no headlight patch, and I am not taking the time to look
through my downloads (is this qualifying enough?), but, as I recall, I do
have a headlight patch installed. In fact, I think there are 2 patches
available. I don't know how much effect is has in driving view, but in other
views the lights are brighter and less yellow.
Have you downloaded SP3 (service pack 3) yet?

I haven't downloaded SP3 as I believe its about 120Mb.  Since I only have a
56k modem and pay for the call so I'm not going to bother.  Maybe I'll
download it in 9 months time when my cable company finally introduces cable
modems.

On the headlights patch, I found the one you mentioned but couldn't
understand how to install it.  The instructions simply said to import the
bmps but didn't say how.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

I got the headlight patch installed.  Unfortunately it only affects the
external views, not the***pit view.  Oh well.
