GT1 Update for SCGT

GT1 Update for SCGT

Installed the GT1 version 1.2 update for SCGT, and now some GT1 cars
(Mercedes CLK is the worst) have an annoyingly high pitched whining
engine noise that sounds like it was ripped out of an '80s video game.
Is it supposed to be that horrible or is there something wrong?

Otherwise it's nice to race against real GT drivers, except those damn
Roock drivers who keep pushing me out!

On Tue, 15 Jun 1999 15:39:20 GMT,

The '1.2 update' is *not* an official update from the developers.
It was made by a user and changes all the sounds for the cars to
non-standard named sounds. If I were you, I would uninstall SCGT
and then reinstall SCGT and the 1.551 patch from the *developer*.

There are other soundpacks that are much better. I made a pretty
good one and Hilly made a nice one. Unfortunately, the non-standard
'1.2' patch renders them inoperable.

Real patch is here:
ftp://ftp.sports-***.com/scgt/downloads/upgrades/scgt1551.zip

My soundpack is at:
ftp://ftp.sports-***.com/scgt/downloads/fixes/sc-rrev2.zip

(the link on the site is incorrect)

I did notice this, and actually I just wanted some real drivers for
the cars. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be possible since the
info for both car sounds and driver names is stored in the same file.

Rrevved, I'm using your soundpack at the moment and it rocks! Thanks
in behalf of the SCGT community.

Well, I'm the one responsible for the update. I
agree that the Mercedes sound is crap, I'll do
something about that at some point. Basically my
philosophy for the game is to make each car have
a separate realistic sound. The difference between
my update and others out there is that mine uses
individual sounds for each car, whereas the others
use the same sounds for several cars. Problem is,
I haven't quite got all the sounds right, but the
only ***one is the Mercedes. However, the sounds
that are spot on in my opinion are the Porsches
and the McLaren F1 GTR. But I suppose you pays yer
money and you takes yer choice.

Easy. The Merc sounds very close to a NASCAR!

Only at Le Mans. The car in SCGT is the old Merc CLK-GTR, with the V12
engine, which is high pitched and whiney. Okay so my sound for it is
crap, but the Mercs only sound like NASCARs at Le Mans, where they have
a 6 litre V8. If someone wants to paint up a Merc as the Le Mans Merc
CLR then I'd be glad to alter my sound to a V8!

 Hi there...

firstly..  LOVE your sound pack.. the Porsche and many of the others are
UNCANNY!!!  SOSOOOOO realistic..  The "Lamborghini" is great too..  I
have actuall raced against a RACING LAMBORGHINI SV..  WOW.. and the
sound you have.. is very similar..  incredble...

A friend  (Dominic Bennica here in Australia is the GTP Cup Champion)
races a Porsche 911 RSCS.. and the sounds is SOOO accurate.

I actually like the Mercedes.. it is a V12 isthe game.. alothought they
now have a V8..  but it ust mixes the sounds up.. one thing I didn't
like with the other ppls sounds.. they all sound similar  :-(

Thanx again.. and keep us posted...  :-)
