F1-Number of laps/race?

F1-Number of laps/race?

by James Mathi » Sat, 26 Oct 1996 04:00:00

I just got the Formula One game by Psygnosis for the Sony Playstation.

I was wondering how many laps were run in each race of the Formula One
1995 season.

Reason being, that the number of laps to run in the game can be set
anywhere from 5% to 100% of the 'real' number of laps; but, I haven't
found in the game, or the manual, what the 100% number of laps are.  And,
I don't know from memory.   Seems a crucial fact to know if one wants to
plan fuel load and number of pit stops for a race!

A listing of each race and its race length number of laps would be great!
Is there a book or web site where I could try to find this information?

Thanks a lot,

I think you can find it on: http://www.siii.pt/f1/w3f1/in/stat.htm
It's a great site with lots of statistics, but you have to look around a bit
to find the information you need.
A question for you in return: does this mean that Formula One is finally
available in North America? I can't find it in stores in Canada. I have played
it in England a bit and I was very impressed.

It is available in Canada. Or at least, in theory, if it hasn't sold out
yet. Check the videogame stores.

It's newly-released and so far is available for the Playstation.  It's
the most realistic F1 racing game I've seen yet, complete with
commentary by Murray Walker.
As far as the number of laps go, I can only confirm Adelaide (being,
as I am, in Australia) but the rest sound about right.  The only real
conditions the FIA put on the race distance (**THAT I KNOW OF**) are a
maximum of 200 miles (320km) or two hours, whichever comes first.
Having played the F1 game on its easiest settings, I can report that
on those settings, each race is only three or four laps each.

There's a race setup dialogue box which expresses the race distance in
percent.  You can drive any distance, at any level of difficulty, upto the
actual race distance - As long as your thumbs hold out.
