GPL Force feed changed with modem active

by R A Wrigh » Fri, 13 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Hi
I was downloading a large file and decided to have a quick race in GPL so I
started the program up and went to Monza and the steering seemed strange it
was lighter when in the pits and when I was driving the force feed back
worked fine except when the car started to slide the wheel went very light
it hasn't done this before and it seemed a lot better to drive also the
wheel didn't self centre when I stopped.I was thinking it could be something
to do with the modem being active, so I stopped GPL and restarted but now
the wheel is heavy like it always is, even with the modem active. I
preferred it light has anyone any idea what was going on.
I don't now know whether it right being light and responsive or heavy and
not going light when cornering fast.

Well I would understand why the wheel became light when u slide. When u
slide the tires lose grip so the steering wheel becomes lighter.

I have found what changed the MSFF wheel self centreing must not of
operated, when I changed this to minimum in the set up it makes the wheel
more reponsive than with it set at full strenth .

You should indeed turn it off fully. Your steering wheel in your car
also doesn't self-centre, right? ;-)
It is supposedly turned off automatically by GPL, but this has some
problems with some type of wheels, type of system, type of connection
and probably what color hair you have.
In other words: always turn it off in the profile. Force feedback
means centering has no use and even makes FF feel bad.
