I haven't seen any talk of this, but project wildfire released papy's
track tools today.  Hopefully some of the more prominent GPL track
builders will pick it up. =)

Great, I can't wait for a thousand crappy tracks to appear online.

They should have left it for use to amateur groups with realism at heart.

You just don't get my meta-point, Bruce.  Trust me, herds of NR2003 users,
creating tracks, is hell on earth.

But hey, some of us have discussed, seriously, about such philosophical
points years and years ago.  I won't go into that another time, but I must
repeat that imho, public tools for track creation is a bad idea.  Just shoot
another one-liner if that's all you can do.

But how else do the tools get into the hands of the odd genius who can
greate the likes of "The Isle of Man",  recently released for GPL ?

Sure most people lack the talent necessary for such a creaton but I'd gladly
sift through tons of garbage to find the odd jewel.   ;o)

Or am I missing a more subtle point ?

For GPL numerous 'crappy' tracks have been released too. But also many
of them are pure gems, better than the original GPL tracks in every
way. The only tracks you see on VROC are these tracks.

I'm extremely happy with the release of these tools and can't wait to
pick out the gems of all the tracks that are going to be released.

You guys never read the posts I write. "They should have left it for use to
amateur groups with realism at heart."

Yes.

Hey Frank, ya mean one-liners like these that fueled some responses ?? ;>)

"Great, I can't wait for a thousand crappy tracks to appear online."

and,

"They should have left it for use to amateur groups with realism at heart."

Hell on earth is a bit dramatic. Relax, have a Maudite. I'm buying. It's a
holiday here !

No, we just can't understand the posts you write.

What does that mean?  And who gets to decide that?

Amateur level making has been THE foundation of the mod community for years,
ever since Doom.  It makes no sense to take that away or to get elitist
about it.  If anybody can have it, everybody should be able to have it.
Sometimes people you have never heard of come up with amazing stuff.  If
there were a screening process before giving the tools out that would never
happen.

And of course you & Papy know now who these great track designers are going
to be even 3-5 years from now.   So they should should just allow those on
your "approved for all time" list to get it.

Ok.  I get it now.

Elrikk

PS.   Nope!   Lost it again.   Some thoughts must be just too subtle for me.
