Wheel Calibration Numbers in GPL w/ 50k pots

by Jerry Knitte » Mon, 17 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I have built my own steering wheel using a Spectrol 50k pot, this is the
same pot used by TSW in their top of the line units.  I am getting a
range of 16 to 62, which is not near as large as my LWFF which has a
range of 0 to  655.  Any TSW or other users that can tell me if this is
normal or not would be greatly appreciated.  Note I have my wheel
plugged into the gameport of a Diamond Monster MX200 Soundcard.

Thanks
Jerry

I have a tsw qith spec pots.  It is connected to a pdpi L4 game card
and directx drivers with dx6.1.  The steering values are 19 to 135.
Brake is 78 to 105.  Throttle is 42 to 70 and clutch is 21 to 130.  I
am surprised at my throttle values but it seems to work ok in gpl.  May
have to change that pot.

Wheel Calibration Numbers in GPL w/ 50k pots

I noticed that my wheel plugged into my SBLive differs dramatically from
someone elses plugged into their PDPI.  Both wheels are from SRC and both
were built within a week of each other, so I assume both use the same parts.
Does the PDPI do something to the calibration and sensitivity that lowers
the numbers?  I have a PDPI on order, but probably won't be here till next
week.

I do think the pdpi gives lower numbers.  Perhaps because of the
conversion it is doing.
