Follow on from the RBR locks / freezes thread.

My son's RBR which was installed recently locks up & freezes & sometimes
bombs out to Windows.
I've tried all the new drivers I can think of: EG
Nvidia Nforce2 4.27 (it's Asus A7N8X mobo with onboard sound)
ATI Catalyst 4.7 (Graphics card is ATi Radeon 9500 pro 128Mb)
DirectX 9.0c
RBS 1.01 patch has been applied
Sound acceleration (in Dxdiag) set down to basic and none.
It fails after about 5 minutes of driving stages or rally school.  Best
"stability" so far is for about 10 minutes with AGP aperature down to 32 and
SmartGart to nil & AGP fastwrites disabled & sound acceleration to none.
O/S is Win ME & CPU is Athlon XP 2800, 512MbRAM

I was wondering if it's to do with the onboard sound in my A7N8X mobo?  It's
the NForce2 sound.  RBR wouldn't work at all with sound acceleration on
full.  The system locks/bomb outs happen more frequently when sound
acceleration
is higher.  The "least bad" time (ie when it survives about 10 minutes) is
with sound acceleration on none.

Has anyone successfully used RBR on an A7N8X with onboard sound an ATi
Radeon?

Cheers
Chris

I use it with no problems yet.

I haven't had a problem either with an A7N8X Deluxe, and Radeon 9800 Pro.
Could be the memory, I know N2003 kept crashing on me after playing a while
and it ended up being a stick of memory going bad. Download a memory
punishing test called Prime95 and run it. If it keeps crashing then you know
a stick of memory is probably the culprit.

I use the a7n8x deluxe or whatever it is, with the flash onboard sound,
and it's fine.
