Thrustmaster GP1 Wheel

Has anyone ever heard of the Thrustmaster Grand Prix 1 Wheel, it costs
around $50 and has levers on the wheel instead of pedals. I like many
cannot afford a T2 and joystick racing sux. I just wanted to see if
anybody has ever used it, it cant be that bad, considering it is from the
same company that makes the T2. Please Respond.         T'roy-

Ya, I have one that I use occassionally, it's pretty good.  I have a T2
also, but I bought the GP1 for GP2.  I am too big ( 6'7") and
uncoordinated to work pedals as quickly as necessary in GP2, my knees are
always hitting the underside of the desk, or my size 13 feet are hitting
the wrong pedals, etc., so I thought the hand controls for gas/brake might
improve my control in GP2.  It does, but only slightly.  In Nascar 1/2, I
seem to do a little better with the pedals, though, you can establish a
different rhythm with pedals in N2, in GP2, everything is so damned fast
with the pedals.

The one downside to the GP1 is your hands can get very tired, and if you
race long periods of time, eventually your shoulders and forearms can get
tired from the intensity of grip on the wheel and the constant exagerated
death squeezes on gas/brake.  If you were a really smooth and/or competent
driver, I would guess the stress would be reduced, but I'm not there, I
drive like a fish out of water trying to get back in (i.e, flailing all
over, wheels spinning, trying desperately to stay on the track....wild
braking maneuvers, et al.).

Good luck, either way.

I have one, and I think it's great.  I use it with my CH Pedals, which
I think is an awsome combination.  I haven't really tried it using the
levers for gas/brake, but the wheel itself is a quality product.
