We had exactly 16 green-flag laps. I think we should run the track
again instead of running Daytona.  :)

8:00pm is a bit late (2:00am) for us europeans Eldred.. :-(

Having said that - I would'nt make it anyway...  if yellow's go - I go.
It's just not stockcar racing (or fun for that matter) without them.

Me too.  I have actually sat through a number of online "races" that
barely managed to complete even a single lap under green.  I kept
thinking all the boneheads would finally give up and we could get some
racing in, but the torture just went on and on and on and. . .

I think the number of cautions and the quality of the group involved
tends to reflect in the real world as well.  Ever catch some of the
feeder series races?  Some of their restarts look for all the world
like lap one of a 0-10 Papy loop race.

And even the Cup series can get ridiculous at times.  I have a strong
notion of having been to races at Bristol that were 20-30% run under
yellow.  Yellows breed yellows, and sometimes even the pros have a
hard time getting it together.

In the real world the Cup drivers get one and a half hours of practice
driving around with one another at the track before going racing.  If
online racing groups were to do something like this, I think it would
go a long way toward cutting down on some of the mischief.  Of course,
who the heck has the time to do it?

I have never raced with you guys, but I read all the reports.  I
agree, you sound like you are doing fine.  Carry on!

No yellows are fine for the practice race, but are you considering no
yellows for the real race on Sat. too?

Working for her Majesty eh?

I only live in her realm, Bruce. Where I come from, Irish is pronounced,
Oyrish, Guinnes is made from Liffey water and Englishmen, (what goes around
comes around <G>), are currently employed as road building navvies. There is
a severe shortage of unskilled labour in the Emerald Isle these days :-)

I would be into a practice race, no yellows is fine, I would not like to see
the *official* race run without them though.

We've already gone over this, and the only time we run without
yellows is on road courses.

Our regularly scheduled races will be run with yellows ON (except
road courses) - get used to the fact, and everyone stop whining.

JS opened a bottle of whine and said:

And I just got a good bottle of vintage Andretti, damn.   ;-)

I hope not.  One person posts about no yellows and all of a sudden its
this huge issue.  We had a bad race.  Lets get over it and just keep
going with what we got.  Heck, at Mich. we only had 3 yellows, so its
not like every race is a huge problem.  I agree with Ed above, I might
run a couple of practice races w/o yellows, but if yellows go, so do
I.  Yellow flags ARE a part of NASCAR and they ARE a part of sim
racing.  They bring a huge element of strategy that would be missing
w/o them.

Besides, in Sat. race I got punted on the first lap and was able to
come back and get a top 5.  If we did not have yellows, my day would
have been over on the first lap and I would have left.... which is
what most everyone else would have done so you will end up with about
4 people finishing races... what fun is that.

That would be fine with me.  I don't really care for the plate tracks.

Nope.
John has already reiterated the fact that only road courses have no yellows
applicable.
Ovals have yellows.

Bruce.

Hell - there's a lady in one of my leagues that races with our start time of
9:30 eastern...<g>

Well, driving 60%+ of the race behind the pace car isn't exactly a recipe for
e***ment, either...<g>

You and John need to get together then, because he's pretty adamant against
turning off the yellows for anything but road courses.

I don't think turning yellows off is the answer. I think everyone is
overrreacting to the last race.  Everyone should just shut up and
race.
