Sierra's 3d Screamer card

Sierra's 3d Screamer card

Sierra is offering a Rendition based 3d card for $200 along with 4
games, most notably the Rendition compiled ICR II.  I'm looking for a
good card and have ICR II on my Christmas shopping list.  So since I
was going to buy the $50 game anyway, that puts the price of the card
to $150 which is a good price if the card is a good performer.

Does anybody know the performance of this card in DOS and Windows 3.1?

Also, what kind of support can I expect for the Rendition version of
ICR II?  I remember reading a post from somebody that indicated that
the version does not include a manual.  Is it available through other
means?  Do the 3rd party track converters work with the Nascar and
Indy track to convert to the Rendition ICR II version?

Thanks for any tips you can give as to whether this card is a good
deal.

The Screamin3D's DOS VESA speeds are quite fast, but VGA is painfully
slow.  Unfortunately there are no Win3.1 drivers, but the Win95 ones
are quite adequate.  While Intergraph did not, Sierra may choose to
include a manual for ICR2 (I'm not sure).  All the tracks convert fine
to the Rendition version.

Then buy the Intergraph Reactor 3D. Same chipset as the Sierra, hell, you
can use the same drivers. Its $150 til the end of the month and comes with
Indy Car II. So in that case, the card is $100.

It is a good performer in vesa and SVGA modes. VGA and Mode X, its bad.
Super inn 3D.

I'd like to know that myself.

I would assume that Sierra would be sending you a "complete" ICR2 from
what I've seen of their adds.  But, I would want that to be confirmed by
someone who actually received their Screamin' 3D.  Intergraph also sells
a Rendition 3D card (and provide better support) which also includes the
ICR2 package.  They have a special for $150 until 12/31/96.  If you use
your logic, their card will only cost you $100.  This way you can buy
NASCAR2 which is Rendition ready and have 2 racing sims for the price of
1 and a hot video card for only $100.00!

Confirmed, you get the complete ICR2 game (no manual, but who needs
that anyway :> ) and also 2 other complete games. And I am *very*
happy with the scream3D card. Can't compare it to Intergraph, but  no
need to :>
