36fps FINALLY! With no problem

by Cossi » Wed, 26 Jan 2000 04:00:00

With the help of a few people, I am finally able to run GPL Demo with 36fps with no problem. The graphics isn't the best I've
seen, but the gameplay is really fun. I never knew I can drift so good until I look at the replay. Playing at 36fps allows me
to have a lot quicker reaction on what the car does. No wonder I spin a lot less now than what i did. So far i only run 5 laps
at the Glen with the perfect 36fps (it is 1:36 now, time to sleep hehe) With the addition of the new video card, I've decided
to play with the Lotus. I dunno if it is because of the frame rate, but the Lotus seems to be a lot easier to catch, i can
slide around and catch the car. On the other hand, the Eagle was very big. everytime i try to drift, i go into the grass. But
on the bad side, the Lotus is definitely looser, especially under braking, car always get tail happy, I have to enter the
turns with the car at full opposite lock a few times (sometimes i feel like i am michael schumacher) hehehe

Running at 36fps is definitely more fun

thanks for the help folks

My best time at 13fps was a 1:06:9 with an Eagle
my best time at 36fps is a 1:09:8 with a Lotus, but then I only run 5 laps on the track. So I should be able to beat the 1:06
easily.

When the full game comes, I will just dump the Lotus and Eagle. I will only drive the Ferrari. Sucks to be a Tifosi heheh

thanksagain all

2 possibly changes to try:

If the car is stepping out at the back under braking then increase the
brake balance which will move it more towards the front.

To stop oversteer in corners you can either raise the nose or drop the
rear (ride height).

One other thing to try while I'm at.  Increase the front ARB.  I upped
this a couple of clicks to just recently and immediately noticed an
improvement in handling for the Lotus.

Cossie,

What was your solution?  I've been having the same "funky" graphics problems
as you but have yet to find a soulution.
