I just installed GPL on my win 2000 pro final , and when I try to start it I
get error messages regarding missing dll files (one of them is a glide file,
I know that much).
Should I try reinstalling dx7?
or something else? what?

Perhaps you should try installing Glide (you do have a 3dfx card don't you)

Try searching your harddrive to see if you have those dll somewhere on
it (particularly if you have win98 still installed somewhere). They
might not work on win2000, but worth a try. Just put them in the gpl
folder if you find the missing dll files.
