I have a friend who's struggling to get GPL running on a machine with an
Intel 815 chipset and Win 2000.  He's keeps getting CTDs.  Any advice (other
than the obvious: get all the latest drivers)?

W2k is definitely not the problem, i would suggest the
onboard graphic chip/driver.

are the problems with all rasterizers?

Hi Joachim,

He's not fully computer-literate, so I haven't discovered the
video-accelerator chip-maker, but he does claim to have obtained the latest
drivers from the mobo-maker (Asus).  I remember hearing of problems with the
Intel 815 chipset, but I don't remember if it was Win 2000-related.
(Needless to say, all his other s/w--games included--work just fine.)  Ah,
GPL....

Thx fer yer advice!

I have a dual boot system.
Win 98 for my kid, and Win 2000 for me.

I have installed GPL on both Operating systems.
It worked on both but the core.ini settings for D3D are different.

You should post more specific descriptions of your problem. You may get
better advice.

Good luck Win 2000 is way more stable once it is running.

Don't know what you mean by "CTD" but I'll assume it's bad :-)

W2K Pro, Intel 815EAA MB here - no problems.  Any issue with GPL is almost
likely related to video drivers.  Also, is he using the D3D rasterizer?  If
not that's probably the best choice.

Dale.

CTD, Crash to Desktop.
BSOD, Blue Screen of Death.
PCMCIA, People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms.

Thx, John - that's the best advice I've had yet.  (And I thought core.ini
was only for connectivity & FF....)
