calibrating GPL

I've got a problem here. I've been losing my brakes during a racing
session. They just sort of fade. I had a couple of races today. First,
at Kyalami. The brakes were weak. For instance, at the end of the main
straight, braking for the first corner I had to put my foot to the floor
and keep it there. No locked up wheels. I managed to do a personal best
during the race, but I want some feel in the brakes.
Then I raced at Monza. I recalibrated in the game but this time I
pressed the brake pedal before I pressed the throttle pedal in the
generic calibration screen. I ran a six lap race, the brakes were fine,
but my best time was half a second slower than my personal best. I was
consistent throughout the race, only .30 sec. between my slowest and
fasted laps. So, obviously, the throttle was weak in this case.
You need a consistent feel in both brake and throttle when you're racing
but I'm just not getting it. It's not the pedals, I believe, but the GPL
calibrator.
Anyone know a fix?
roy.
ps. can't get video controls on the playback screen when I'm driving in
1028 resolution. I have to drive in 800 resolution for the playback
controls to work.

Doesn't sound like a problem with how GPL is calibrating as GPL has one
of the better joystick routines in the business when using generic.  It
actually sounds as if you have a dirty pot in your pedals.  You can
calibrate once and the read will be one thing, but as the pot moves so
does the dirt and the resistence will change.

What video card?  I get the controls with my Voodoo2 card.

You can always use the keyboard short-cut keys to control the replay
(see the original readme.txt file).

Nah. Not the pedals. 1) It happened last week when I was using someone else's
T2 wheel and pedals. and 2) Sometimes the brake is soft, sometimes the
throttle is soft and I think it depends on which one I press first when I'm
calibrating.
And re: the replay screen problem. I'm running a monster on top of a banshee.
(scary, eh.)
Thanks for your answer, anyway, Michael.

Then this might indicate problems with your game port.  When I calibrate
(as I have a slightly dirty brake pot and I am too lazy at the moment to
clean it). I very smoothly press the gas full throw and hold it.  I then
smoothly press the brake full throw and hold it.  I then gently release
the gas and then the brake.

But if the calibration is changing on you after you have calibrated,
this is either a sign of a dirty pot, or a game controller port problem.

Regarding the replay problem, you may have to run your desktop at the
1028 resolution to be able to use the replay controls at that resolution
in the game.  I am not sure, it's just a shot in the dark (so everybody
duck).
