Yes, yes, The Wishlist.
What I would like to see in icr2 and nascar is more realistic green flag
starts. When I have pole position I don't seem to have as much control
over the start as drivers do in the real thing. I can't slow down the
field in order to control the runup to the green.
Wish number two. How about a full in-the-cockpit view in replays - with
all the instruments and gear changes visible.
Wouldn't that be nice!

I don't know about ICR2, but if you're on the pole in Nascar Racing, you DO in
fact control lap speed during the pace lap.  If you stop on the track, none of
the field will pass you.

Mike Manthe

wishlist

My wishlist....for NASCAR & IndyCar

1. Brakes that "fade" from overuse / heat.

2. More realistic braking..... It would be nice to be able to push the
brakes hard enough to lock them up.   Right now, pushing the brake to
the max will not lock them, and seems to be too "easy" to always brake
the right amount.   It would be more realistic (and challenging) to
learn how much braking is needed going into a corner without overheating
or locking the brakes.   That way you could drive hard into a corner to
beat someone and try to out-brake them.
I realize it is probably set the way it is because of people who just
push a button to brake, instead of an analog input.   Maybe next time?

3. As long as I'm on the subject of "beyond tire adhesion", a little
more spin available in 1st gear would add some realism to "jumping" out
of the pits with new tires.  The only time I can get too much throttle
is starting out on a steep bank.

Just wishing.

Ack! Nooooooooooo... ;-)

Ordinarily I'd agree with you here, but since you have no "feel" of
the car in a simulator you'd be WAYYYYYYY too quick to lock up the
brakes.  A driver in a race car can judge how close he is to locking
up by feeling the response of the car in the turn -- we,
unfortunately, cannot (heck, we can't even turn our heads).  I'd vote
no on this one.

One way to do this would be to use the gas pedal for engine revs
instead of acceleration, then use the gear tree to provide the
impetus.  Kind of like Need for Speed.  Problem is, it'd be easy to
get anxious on road courses and shift down past first gear into
reverse if you're not careful.. ;-)

On ICR2, I just pull over and block the outside pole sitter.  Not to be
mean, but he will pass you if you slow down.  After all you are the pole
sitter and you are in control of the field when the pace car pulls off.

I agree with Mike Manthei about more wheel spin in first gear.
In fact the whole gear/gear change system needs update with the
addition of neutral (Just like it is in A Need For Speed).

Too easy?!?  Damn, you must be better than me.  I either burn up the
tires(too fast), or get left in the dust(too slow).  :(

There shouldn't be any passing allowed until you have crossed the
start finish lines.  There has been a lot of wrecks in Hawaii because
Papy has ignored this NASCAR rule in the sim.
