F2002 demo question, er, problem

by Mike » Tue, 14 May 2002 04:36:34

I downloaded and installed the F2002 demo but the program will not run. The
installation went fine, however, when I run the program I can only get so
far before the program freezes and throws me out.

I can get to various stages but never to the driving. Except for once when I
did make it that far but the screen just had garbage and nothing was
recognizable.

I have Directx 8.1 so no problem there. Does anyone have any suggestions or
possible had a similar problem? I would like to experience the fun!!!!

Thanks

hmmm, same problem here.

I just gave up, its a work in progress demo, so I don't think they will fix
it for us!

That is what I will have to do also I guess. The fact that the demo has DEMO
WORK IN PROGRESS plastered all over it doesn't bode well for tech support.

I was just wondering of anyone else had the problem and knew how to solve it
so I could get the think working.

The only time I've seen anyone else with this problem is when the demo was
run under Win95. It needs W98.

But in his case, if he says he has DirectX 8.1 then he should have Win98 or
later installed, since DX8.1 won't install under Win95 either...

I'm running under XP, with all latest drivers and patches.

All the other games I have work fine.

I suspect it is something to do with NTFS as GPL won't run on my pc ether,
but when I copied it (gpl) to another drive it worked fine.

I'm betting this would be the same but I can't be bothered borrowing a drive
to test with and re-partitioning mine is totally out of the question!

Try installing the demo to another hard drive/partition.

I have seen an issue with one game (GPL) and the primary NTFS partition.

Thanks for the help so far.

I have a P4, WIN ME, Redaon VE 64 MB card and only one partition.. I did
uninstall and reinstall without any success. In fact, since I have done
that, the program immediately locks up as soon as I get past the EA legal
info screen.

I hope the actual program is not like this!!!!

Thanks all

The NTFS issue I'm talking about only applies to the root partition on the
root drive and only when the partition is created by win2k setup, if you
upgrade from win9x then this doesn't happen.

Thats what I worked out with GPL anyway, not sure whats wrong with f12002
but it crashes in much the same way.

F12001 works fine!
