GPL and cold tires

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the AI drivers are REALLY
good at dealing with cold tires on the first lap?  It's frustrating when I
actually have the speed to pass a few cars (not many tracks mind you) but
have to watch them slip away on the first lap as I tippy toe around on
cold tires.
Anybody have any advice on how to heat the tires up quickly?

: generally pushing the car too hard. I concentrate on being smooth and, if
: anything, I find the AI are too slow early on - although not as bad as in
: previous Papy sims.

You gotta be kidding. The AI out of the gate at Monza takes the curve
grande and into the Lesmos like they're running on slicks. It's darn near
impossible to gri the curve with these guys until the 3rd lap. I've tried
just about every setup from my friends, I've goofed with the roll bars and
toe-in all day. Nothing will allow you dive in like these guys and not
come off the throttle unless you wanna kiss the rail.

Practice will.

It can be done, I know because I can run with the AI off the line and
around the first lap. You need to think about driving on cold tyres
but it's far from impossible. Remember that your rears will be
somewhat warm having lit them up off the grid, but your fronts will be
cold as they have done no work. Remember that going into Curva Grande
- your car balance will be pretty different to what you're used to and
what you will have during the race after your tyres warm up.

Cheers!
John
